Is the grass any greener in the warmer climates?

Moving would not be an easy task but I wonder if it could improve quality of life.
Hope everyone is doing well, especially my blizzard brothers and sisters.
Hoping the power stays on!

Stay warm! I live in northern Iowa about 2 hours south of Minneapolis. I love it here because I like cold weather.
I've never enjoyed heat and humidity and Sprycel has made it much less enjoyable for me. I notice a great difference in my tolerance to heat with Sprycel that I didn't experience with Gleevec. I also feel the cold more than I used to, but at least I can dress for that.
I start worrying about what the coming summer weather is going to be like in March. The last two summers here have been very cool right when it should be the hottest. Weird, I know, and I also know it won't last. I would be much happier with an oncoming ice
age!
I'd love to hear how others tolerate heat and cold.

Maybe no one in warmer clients has CML?

I live in TN, which some people think of as the south, others don't. We still get extreme temperatures both ways, although not as much snow as often as you do in the north. I say all that to say, I find that I have issues with either one since having CML, but for me, extreme heat is worse. I can relate to your cold and fever issues, I've been dealing with that this week too, and that sure doesn't help anything. Also feel wicked bone pain in one of my legs when it's this cold. Sounds like the bitter winter weather affects your outlook, as well, which makes everything seem worse. Sorry you're having a hard time. Maybe you should think about moving someplace with less extreme weather, if that's possible for you. Hope you feel better soon
Dx: 01 March 2011
Sprycel 100 mg per day since dx
MMR: July 2013
numerous side effects
Thankful for the gift of each new day, and try to live it to the fullest

I live in sunny Arizona and love love the warmer winters, but not so much the heat in summer. I have lived in the cold as well, but always felt best in the desert and the summer heat never really bothered me much. Then The last couple years the summers have gotten worst for me...cml or age? Hard to tell. By September last year, we were ready to sell everything, hubby going to retire early, and move out to Boston area near one of our daughters. My other daughter who lives in the Phoenix area and is so fed up with the heat, is packing up her family of 6 and moving out to be near her sister in the Boston area as soon as kids are out of school this year, whether they have jobs or not.
Funny by December, with the cooler weather, the moves don't seem as urgent. Now with the pictures our Boston daughter is sending us of the 2+ feet of snow in their yard, our flip flops seem pretty comfortable. We've decided to stay put and find a way to become snow birds.
Of course that's all subject to change when the heat hits again in April/ May. Phoenix daughter says they're still going. I think being younger helps.
As far as tolerance, I don't seem to be able to handle the cold or the heat well. Even with extra layers on for the cold or AC and dips in the pool for the heat...it's really hard. Both extremes make me feel sicker. Don't know if any of this helps, but there's a view from a desert rat.

Thanks for the feedback. I think Chris has it right with San Francisco, I was there a few months ago and the weather really was perfect. Pretty expensive though as he also mentioned. Practically I probably can't go; I don't want to be unfair to my family and move because of me. I also have concerns that if my health is an issue I will be moving them somewhere they don't know anyone or have a support system. All the family is here so if I have a problem there are people to jump in and help.
Wishful thinking I guess. Hopefully the spring will be upon us soon enough. That damn groundhog but come through for me this year!

My daughter has CML and we live in New Jersey. She doesn't have a problem with the cold nor heat. She went to college in Hawaii, and ,therefore, prefers the heat. However her job is in New Jersey. As I type this, she is outside shoveling her driveway. She takes Gleevec and doesn't seem to be effected by heat nor cold.
Lucky - which drug do you take. My guess sensitivity to cold or heat may depend on the drug that one is taking.

@Sandy - Sprycel. IF this turns out to be pneumonia again I may switch. I can't keep having this happen.

South Texas, here. It's way too hot. However, for the last four summers, I was on Sprycel and actually did better with the heat than before CML. This last winter, I switched to Tasigna and have never felt so cold. Not that I minded it, because I love cold weather, but my body temperature dropped during our cold fronts (which there weren't many of...it's almost 80 degrees again!) and it took me a long time to warm up. This will be my first summer on Tasigna. I'm hoping that I keep tolerating summers better, like I did on Sprycel.

During your snowstorm I golfed today in shorts. 77 degrees. I have lived in Boston, Wyoming, Pennsylvania and other depressing places. I didn't leave anything there I need to go back for.

I live in New York, it is cold, and depressing. No sunshine mostly ice and it is so cold it hurts my face when I go outside. With the wind and hard frozen ground why do I live here? Lucky maybe you could go some where warmer for just the colder months. I do think it would improve our quality of life, we would be more inclined to go out in the sunshine and take walk and enjoy the outdoors instead of being cooped up inside all winter.

I live in the South Bay Area/Silicon Valley ... a very moderate climate with low humidity
with built-in air conditioning almost every day during the summer
the fog-chilled breeze sweeping in off of the Pacific Ocean and SF bay in the afternoon
a jacket in the evening, and blankets at night, even during the summer
during the winter it may touch 32 at 5:00am for a few days
today 66/45 which is probably close to a typical winter day
we could almost use 40 days and nights of rain; the drought is longterm
traffic is abysmal and RE prices are out of sight
used to be that traffic was light from 10am to 3pm
not so anymore, but not bad if you are retired
For the benefit of yourself and others please add your CML history into your Signature
02/2010 Gleevec 400mg
2011 Two weakly positives, PCRU, weakly positive
2012 PCRU, PCRU, PCRU, PCRU
2013 PCRU, PCRU, PCRU, weakly positive
2014 PCRU, PCRU, PCRU, PCRU (12/07 began dose reduction w/each continuing PCRU)
2015 300, 250, 200, 150
2016 100, 50/100, 100, 10/17 TFR
2017 01/17 TFR, 04/18 TFR, 07/18 TFR 0.0012, 08/29 TFR 0.001, 10/17 TFR 0.000
2018 01/16 TFR 0.0004 ... next quarterly PCR 04/17
At the earliest opportunity, and whenever possible, lower your TKI dosage; TKIs are toxic drugs and the less we take longterm the better off we are going to be ... this is especially true for older adults.
In hindsight I should have started my dosage reduction two years earlier; it might have helped minimize some of the longterm cumulative toxic effects of TKIs that I am beset with.
longterm side-effects Peripheral Artery Disease - legs (it's a bitch); continuing shoulder problems, right elbow inflammation. GFR and creatinine vastly improved after stopping Gleevec.
Cumulative Gleevec dosage estimated at 830 grams
Taking Gleevec 400mg an hour after my largest meal of the day helped eliminate the nausea that Gleevec is notorious for.

You better watch out Trey she's "Hell on Wheels" She sent me a can of Monkey Butt powder, I wonder if that's my warning point that she's gonna kick my Butt. Watch out Februarys coming, along with her 48th bday Again you know she gets nasty every year at this time. Keep your bp down or your score will go up!
I just looked up alliteration and I still don't know what it is.
Does anyone ever wonder what Moose Lodge Marnie belongs to???

Geez. . .I spend the day in a classroom of nasty-mouthed 12-year-olds, and then I come home to this abuse! Something is wrong with this picture.
And I only rode bitch once. After that my husband knew I needed my own bike. He found one for me the next day.
And I'm making no comment on the age thing.
