Any ideas the cost of the BMT? I just found out yesterday I will have to pay 20%, unless my secondary insurance (military) kicks in some. I figure the room and board for a month is $100,000 easy; can't imagine over that.

I'm doing well; still hoping this will be my Christmas present.  Thanks for any input.

I am assuming you already looked into this, but many policies have an out of pocket maximum that usually kicks in somewhere along the way.  If there is no ceiling on your policy then I truly hope your secondary policy picks up some of it.  It is so unfair that during this difficult time, you have to be thinking about the cost.  You have enough to deal with.  Something is very wrong with our system.....

OK, I just called my insurance and spoke generically. I'm not as bad off as I was fearing. My max out-of-pocket for one year is $2,800. I can live with that, and have spent at least half or more so far this year. I was envisioning a bill of $50,000, and laid in bed last night trying to figure out where it was going to come from! I read on the net this can cost $150,000 to $200,000. Wow, what do people without insurance do???

BMB next week - hope for numbers good enough to get me started with the transplant team in my town.

I'm very happy to hear this is the case.  I hope you can sleep better tonight and focus on what is important, which is getting healthy.  Good luck with the BMB next week and getting the journey started.  I think about you and the others who are going down the BMT road quite often.  I am wishing the best for all of you.
