Hi, everyone!

Got my PCR results back this morning and I'm still going in the right direction! On IS my PCR went from 0.05% to 0.02%. Slow and steady....

Have a great day!

Thanks to all!

Question!?

The report indicates that typical clinical samples have detection limits ranging from 0.0% to 0.0001% bcr/able:abl. My bcr/able:abl was 0.006% which in this assay is equivalent to 0.02% on the International Scale. What is considered PCRU on the IS - 0.00%, 0.000%, 0.0000%.

In case I'm not clear, I think I am asking how many decimal points do they carry out for the IS before you are considered PCRU?

Thanks!

Pat

Hi Pat,

Congrats on the results - you've overtaken me!

If memory serves PCRU tends to be in the 4.5 to 5 log reduction range depending on the sensitivity of the test.  5 log is a reasonable number to work on.  That would be 0.001% IS.

In my reports, which I believe come from the same place as yours, I have one set of test results that showed 0.0001% (or 0.0004% on the international scale). I also have a note that 0.1% = mmR.

I also had a reading one time of 0.006% (0.02%), which on my set of numbers was about 3.5 log reduction. The 0.0001% calculated out to 5.23 log.

I suspect that one of the challenges with achieving PCRU is that the instrumentation gets better over time.

I recieved a phone call yesterday saying that I had missed an appointment for a blood draw. So crank up the anxiety and get my behind over there. Let's see where the numbers come back this time.

Great news - we both undertand the "turtle" approach to PCRU - so glad that you're almost there (given the sensitivity of the test, you probably ARE there!) So good to hear that kind of news.

Hi Pat:  I just jumped on here tonight to see what is going on.  Been out of town, as my mother had a stroke.  Your doing good, and its great to see your results going in the right direction.  I am at 0.000% PCRU for 8 years.  Celebrate your great response that your having.  You are always so supportive of everyone else, and now its your turn to share such Great News with all of us.

Susan

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes, it's so important to have the support of others who are walking the same road!

Susan, I am very sorry to hear about your mother's stroke. I hope she is recovering and that you are taking care of yourself while you are taking care of her. You are always willing to share your strength with everyone on this board and I know we all are trying to give back some of ours to you!
