Blimber - with regard to the racing heart, it is hard to say what it is.  At the time I thought it could be related to the drug, but that seemed odd as it came on after about 6 mo on drug.  Ultimately I think it was anxiety but I don't know if I will ever know.  There is a good chance it is stress.  Cancer diagnosis is stressful and you are still relatively new to it.  Give yourself some time, try to relax as best you can.

Thanks a lot my friend, I hope is only anxiety but is already two times, I don't know but I really suffered axiety before my diagnostic hopefully is that. The weird feeling I have is like there is gas inside my stomach and goes up to my throat and thats when my heart start racing the first time it took a long time because I was scared and the second one I really was calm and I was able to control it myselft. I am kind of happy today about those reserches about Leukemia. I will pray and I hope this is the one to cure all kinds of leukemia.

Thanks my friend. CallMeLucky

No - the story in the news was an expiremntal study that was done on 3 people with a different form of leukemia.  The media likes to make a big deal about things and then move on to the next story.  We hear about these things from time to time, it gets us excited and then things go back to normal.  The reality is that anything you hear on the news will usually take a few years to turn into something "real" if it has any legs at all.  The story was about research that is hopeful and could lead to something, some day.  For now, we have our TKI drugs and that is our treatment plan for the foreseeable future.

Thank you my friend for taking your time to answer me this question, I was all happy but now I see that we have to continue with the TKI drug. I hope you are fine for me this week was the worst I guess and I believe it is because the trauma that I got from the day I got the racing heart but now I guess I feel a little bit better. Also I was able to move to City of Hope in Duarte California so there is a good team that specialice in CML and I hope they take care of me a little bit better.

How ironic.  When I was in the hospital being diagnosed, one of the DVDs I caught up on was "I Am Legend".  Hopefully, when we take our cure, we won't turn into flesh-eating zombies!  That would suck.

I don't know, would I still have the fatigue?

I contacted Carl June and this is what he answer:

The LLS was a major supporter of our research.  We are working to adapt our CAR T cell approach to CML, so that one day, TKIs won't have to be taken for a lifetime. We hope to have trials for CML in the next year or 2.  Below is some general information on CAR T cell trials.  Thanks for your support of cancer research. Carl June

Thank you for your interest in our cancer research at the Translational Research Programs at the University of Pennsylvania (http://www.med.upenn...rc/CCVPF/?CCVPF). Please forgive this general message, because there has been an overwhelming number of inquiries. Some of the below information may be of use to you regarding CAR T cell trials for adult and pediatric leukemia, lymphoma, melanoma, myeloma, ovarian, brain, mesothelioma, sarcoma, breast cancer and prostate cancer; these are all early stage trials and are only available at the local city for the particular trial. I am not aware of CAR T cell trials for other types of cancer at this time.  We have added general information for other cancers such as pancreatic cancer.  We hope this is helpful.

The clinical trial you have heard or read about is for patients (both adults and children) with B cell cancers like CLL, non Hodgkin's lymphoma and ALL. For more details about the clinical trials for patients with B cell cancers, please see http://www.penncancer.org/cart-19/

For more details about the clinical trials for pediatric patients with B cell cancers, please see http://bit.ly/qb5Cik

This study is relevant for those with B cell CLL and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

The clinical trial is currently on hold and not immediately enrolling additional patients.  As it reopens in the next 1-2 months, only about 15 patients will be able to be treated, until a larger trial opens in 2012.

For children with leukemia in US seeking a second opinion, information is available at www.chop.edu/service/oncology/our-programs/pediatric-leukemia-and-lymphoma-program.html

Pancreatic Cancer

There are an increasing number of trials with promising reagents for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer, some of the best involve the use of gemcitabine with abraxane, with or without a sonic hedgehog inhibitor. Another interesting drug is an antibody (anti-CTGF) from Fibrogen.  Here at Penn, my colleagues are participating in some of these studies, but all are national or international and there may be a site closer to you. Here are some resources: nearly all clinical trials in the US (and many outside the US) are listed on www.clinicaltrials.gov (where one can search "pancreatic cancer" and a "city name"); the organization PanCan has very useful information on their website at www.pancan.org; and here at Penn, appointments with one of our pancreatic cancer specialists (Drs. Hopefully it be sooner, most propably a different type of T cells to target CML stem cells rather than CD4+ /CD8+, probably CD34+ or CD38+ ?
