My platelet count has been low for a while. I am on the drug Sprycel. While I was in the hospital three weeks ago they gave me some platelets and it ended up at 131 for two weeks It is now 100. I talked to the nurse after getting this results and she said to wait another week to see what happens. At what number does some type of intervention?
How low is too low?

I suppose it partly depends on what you are experiencing, in other words are you having clotting issues or hemoraging in any way. It seems that most people who have dealt with this the number they were told to watch out for was anything below 50.
I'm sure others who have dealt with this will weigh in shortly, hang in there......

Hi Donna,
My platelets bounced around for awhile and seemed to have stablized around 130. They've been that way for a few months. I think when I was dx my platelets went as low as 55 and come up from there. I think it's just taken a while for my marrow to kick back into gear. Good luck and I'll be saying some prayers for you and your platelets. I have also heard that you're not really in danger of anything unless they dip below 50.
