Dear Tranier,
I believe in the power of prayer and I will pray for your son and you and your family constantly. Miracles do happen. I've seen more than one.

I thought when a person achieves MMR - blast crisis does not occur? I am curious what is going on in the bone marrow that one can have a MMR response and then have blasts develop so fast?

We have BJ's tentative transplant date - Sept. 26th...Should receive donated marrow on Oct 5 from an unrelated 20 year old female that is an 8/8 10/10 and 12/12 match...as perfect as an unrelated match can get - barring the sex difference lol...! I have for the most part moved over to the transplant discussion group for now but noticed that kinds thoughts were sent to us...Hoping you keep up with BJ's caringbridge website for updates...His 21st birthday is October 8th and while he will most likely be feeling quite badly (unlike a typical 21st celebration) we have to keep our spirit on the cure! Again, remember that the Cleveland Clinic has not seen a CML mmr case go that quickly and unexpectantly into blast crisis in over ten years...Keep us in your thoughts and prayers pleaseI!!!

I'm also watching the caringbridge site often and already feel like I know BJ from reading the updates. He's young & super strong (half marathoner!), he has an incredibly positive attitude, and an unwavering support structure. I think back to my 21st birthday and just cannot imagine having to go through SCT at that age ... he is a real trooper; I don't think my immature soul at that age could've handled a situation like this, but he clearly has mental & emotional strength beyond his years. He's going to get through this!
