I have not posted very often , but have read many of your posts.  I am on my way to have BMT in a few weeks. Unfortunatly for me, and to my understanding , I have CML in blast stage that has turned/acted like ALL. Two months a go I went through hyper cvad chemo, have done excellent since then. Also started Tasigna 6 weeks ago after my last BMB a few weeks ago I am still in remission.  Had known for the last 5-6 months that a  BMT would be a possibility, could not find a donor.  last week a donor was found, not a perfect match, but under the circumstances decided to go forward with the transplant. Im taking a huge leap of faith and God willing all will go well. I didn't know if anyone else here has went through this also or knew anyone that has.  Any input on their experience would be greatly appreciated.  I have aso quit responding to Gleevec, then Sprycel. Like I said I am on Tasigna and it is doing great, no side effects either. I really wish I could of waited it out to see if the Tasigna would have worked, but we thought that would be to big a risk, they say the healthier you are at transplant the bettter you do. Im hoping that is true.  Thank you for listening.

Peace

Sonja

Hey Sonja, I'm right behind you. I can imagine how you feel (well, maybe). If you scroll down a few threads, you'll see that I, along with some others are soon to face the Dr's. decision on which way the the weather vane will point our future. Just like those shows on plastic surgury. NOT. You and I will have to take what ever they deal us. And I'm going to Vegas next month to get my bride away from this crappy snow in Chicago. 48 years of it is enough.

I along with whoever has their fingers crossed wish you all the best. Keep posting so we know...

Hi Sonja,

Sorry to hear you're having to go through this.  I just switched to Tasigna six weeks ago after a BMB showed 21% blasts.  I've seen a transplant specialist for HLA typing, but am still hoping to get an excellent response to Tasigna (or Sprycel) and avoid transplant, keeping my fingers crossed.  I had an autologous BMT for Hodgkin's disease 20 years ago and had no problems until my CML diagnosis 1 year ago so they can work.  Of course an allogeneic transplant is a bit of a different creature than the autologous transplant I had, but I have seen messages in these forums from people who have done well after allogeneic stem cell transplants.  Where are you having your transplant done?

Sonya,

My husband's experience is very like yours.Dx ( 2007, January, then 54 yars old) in blast crises ( 70 % blasts in the marrow), had been on Gleevec for 20 months, relapsed ( 25 % blasts), took hyper CVAD, achived remision , 9 months on Sprycel. Then Sprycel failed he swiched to Tasigna and started to prepare for  transpant. Fortunalty for Adam perfect donor ( 10/10 maches) was found. He is now 16 months after transpant and doing very well.He was back to work full time 6 months after tranplanst. After one year he was taken of all his meds.No any traces of CML. I now that we were very lucky, and Adam's route trought trasplant was reletivly uneventfull, but I hope that his story will bring hope for you. Sorry, for my English, I am Polish, and I am writtinig from Poland. Take Care Marta.

Jim, Im hoping great success for you and Tasigna. I cant help but wonder if we were able to use it as first line of treatment a year and a half ago I would be going through transplant stage.. I live in Indiana, and will be having here in Indianapolis.

It is very cold and snowy here also, just last year we were in Vegas and had a great time.

Thank you all for you thoughts and well wishes. Will try to post when I can. Here is hoping for a very boring and uneventful transplant...

Peace

Sonja
