My husband, Jeff, was diagnosed with CML in July 2010 and is currently taking 300 mg of Tasigna daily. His starting WBC was 580,000 and it was 3900 this week. He achieved Hematologic Remission in October. He had a PCR test on Wednesday, and the doctor called today to say his number is 4955 and that is down from 74000. I've looked online and only see log reductions or percentages for PCR, and we don't know how to translate his numbers.

I always ask my doctor to fax me the test results so I can confirm what they are telling me. Then if something doesn't make sense, I have a specific line to point to and ask them about. I would get copies of the lab results. If you post them on here, there are people with a lot of experience who can help you interpret them.

That is actually a raw "transcripts" number, meaning how many bcr-abl transcripts (units) the PCR estimated in a certain volume of blood. It should not be reported that way. Ask the Onc to request that the lab put it in a useable format (percentage and log reduction). If they can't, the Onc needs to use a different lab, or you need to use a different Onc. These need to be in an understandable format to be useful. However, his decreasing numbers is good so far.
