Hi well I contacted Dr Talpaz via email and he is a very kind man. He did respond the same day I was amazed! He said in general terms since he is going on what I have told him and not read my reports. That a complex translocation is not associated with increased risk compared to standard translocation. And the course of therapy is the same. He did not express a need to see me and felt I was okay in the hands of my local oncologist. I told him I had chromosome 8,9,and 22. And he did not ask me further information and from his emails I feel better about things. And very glad I don't have to make a trip to MI! I think if I were at risk or it was that unusual he would of asked to see my reports or me.
So thank you Trey, and everyone! I guess I"m going to live. LOL:)

Cathy,
So glad to read your post. I believe your right, if he felt a need to see you he would've recommended it. I also believe there is so much to this battle that we just dont understand but must have faith in the experts so when he responds one must have faith in his expertise to trust what he says. If he had any confusion or doubt he would've surely asked for more information. Trust in what he says and continue on with this battle. Like someone else on here stated in another forum, "i believe I'll die being hit by a bus instead of this"....or something to that effect.
Good luck with your journey and your doctors and know that you still have this forum to seek support, my husband and I have gotten the best advice and answers from this site!

yes I totally think you are correct! I think if there was doubt he would of asked more questions or to see me. It so relieved my mind. Now just on with the journey and putting up with freezing and leg aches! Since the weather change OMG. But it will get better just like it always does. This soon will pass and another one will come along! LOL
Your husband is in good hands. Just the little interaction I had with Dr Talpaz I was impressed he seems very compasionate. That you for your advice and experience you shared.
Have a good day!

Dr. Talpaz was my DR. in Houston for eight years at M.D. Anderson. He was the best, smartest DR. I ever had the pleasure to work with during my 17 year journey with CML. Why he left a prestigious position at M.D.A.C.C. has always been suspect to me as at the time a lot of changes were taking place at MDACC however he is a great DR. and a fascinating man to talk /deal with! If anyone ever needed a Dr. for this reason they can do no better, in my opinion. Does anyone know how to contact Dr. Talpaz?
Thanks,
Jak
