Hello all, it's been quite some time since we've posted as things were going very well. Just to recap -- my husband was diagnosed with CML back in Oct 2006 (WBC 55,000, no splenomegaly, 1% blasts in the marrow). He's been on Gleevec 400mg since then. Reached CCR within 6 months and PCRU in January of this year. Now we just got his latest PCR and it is up to .00045. What do you all make of this? I thought it was really uncommon for this to happen when a downward trend had been established over so many years. Thanks! Stephanie

Stephanie,

No one wants to see a positive number after a couple negatives.  Bursts the mental bubble.  But it is still a 4 log reduction and quite low.  The PCR has a number of varibles in the process that can account for differences in results, including shipping time/sample freshness, lab quality control, etc.  There is not much to do except wait for the next PCR and make sure he is taking the drug (sorry to add the last part but that is what the Onc would ask).

Trey - Thanks for the quick reply! We're going for the repeat tomorrow. You're always so very generous with your time and in sharing your accumulated knowledge. It's much appreciated by us all! Stephanie
