My doctor has put me on muscle relaxer for my headaches, which I just started to get after my dog had a very bad skunk encounter and it got in the house. (This is a whole other story!) From the smell I got my first migrane, ever since then I have headaches everyday. Not migrane just regular. He is thinking they are tension headaches and not related to the skunk incident. Has anyone ever been on muscle relaxers before?

Hi,
I have been on soma (a muscle relaxer) before; I had spine surgery--well, actually a spinal fusion a couple of years ago and the pain was incredible. I was on soma in addition to pain meds to keep the back from going in spasms. I found it best to take one before bedtime. I never took one during the day--just one at night and it really did relax the muscles. I still have to take one at night sometime now on the gleevec and there seems to be no interaction but the soma has helped me a lot.....take care and good luck, sandi

Hi,
My son is actually the cancer survivor but as related to years of tension and fatigue I have ruined myself and experince headaches and tension to the point where I have herniated a disc in my neck and now have secondary trigeminal neuralgia in my face. Not good. Flexeril works really well as a muscle relaxer for me and I combine it with 2-3 motrin to take down inflamation as all recommended by my doctor. I actually have experienced the most relief from acupuncture which I finally tried last fall out of desperation. I cannot tell you how well it worked for me after 8 weekly sessions. I also combined that with some dr recommended physical therapy for 6 weeks which sometimes I think hurt more than helped. I would most definetely recommend acupuncture as close to eastern style as you have available. Good luck!

I'm going to have to re-read Brave New World. Been a long time, but it's still on the bookshelf. I've been wondering what to read next. . .thanks for the tip!

There could be lingering skunk sharts messing up your olfactories and affecting your cranial whatsomakuzies inducing sharts brain.
Skunk sharts contains sulphur compounds (thioacetates) which decompose very slowly into thiols. So after the initial thiol blast, you also get a slow release of thiols from the thioacetates over a long period of time. Maybe this is still affecting you. The sharts stuck to whatever the dog rubbed against and will dissolve very slowly. You can wash whatever got touched with a mixture of three percent hydrogen peroxide and a quarter cup of baking soda per quart of hydrogen peroxide and also add some liquid detergent. You could also use a bleach solution. Still, fresh air is the best antidote.

Or there is always Soma....beautiful Soma....

Vinegar, that cure-all household staple, also removes the smell of skunk from pets, humans, clothes, walls and furniture. Use full strength and rinse with warm water.
