- Have not posted in a while, but.....saw onc (Dr. Talpaz) at U of M today and have some disconcerting reports. Counts remain low - WBC - 2.5, HgB - 9.2, ANC 1.9, however, Uric Acid is now up to 8.8 and Creatinine is 1.2 (up from 1.2 a month ago). I was given a prescription for Allupurinol and a referral for a nephrologist. I will continue Neupogen 100mcg SQ twice weekly. (wondering if I still have healthy stem cells that can be stimulated with the Neupogen.) I declined Procrit for the anemia. FISH and PCR were drawn but reports will not be available for a week or so. Seems my counts cannot get high enough to raise the G to 400mg!! Any advise? currently feeling a bit overwhelmed! Switch to Sprycel deferred since it is more immunosuppressent than Gleevec.
Now having kidney problems - anyone else?

Neupogen has been shown to be the cause of high uric acid levels, and is reversible after stopping Neupogen therapy (which means that it is not necessarily a "kidney problem"):
"Spontaneously reversible elevations in uric acid‚ lactate dehydrogenase‚ and alkaline phosphatase occurred in 27% to 58%..."
