I would like to wish everyone on this site a safe, happy, and healthy holiday.

I also would like to ask Santa for a cure for this disease to allow each and every one of you a long, and healthy life.

Best Wishes and Happy Holiday to all.

Well I've just had my Christmas present.  My haemetologist phoned with my PCR results and after 9 months on G I now have an MMR against my personal baseline rather than just against the lab's average one.

We've had many discussions on here about whether or not to have sedation for BMBs / BMAs.  Personally I don't mind the pain too much, but what I want is sedation whilst waiting for the results!  Four weeks 2 days this time from blood draw to hearing the results and the thought of going through Christmas fretting about them was beginning to bear down.

May Santa bring you all good news too and I hope you are all able to enjoy the finest traditions of whatever midwinter festival you observe - eat until it hurts and drink until the pain goes away!

Best wishes

Phil

I too would like to add my best wishes for all CML-ers.

I have an appreciation for life and memories more than ever before, at times I get frustrated because my friends just don't get how valuable our short time is.  Thank you to those who provide comfort and hope on this site, you are truly a family like no other.  Thanks for being there for all of us.

May all of you have a Merry Christmas and healing, happy New Year's.

Merry Christmas and have a Happy more Healthy New Year. My husband is doing fairly well . His last checkup was in Nov. and dont go

back until Jan. At that time they will draw the labs at OHIO state and do the chromosomal studies. Someone asked him if he was in remission and the Dr. said for his CML there are 3 types with the lst for him being in remission. 1. His lab work  #2 we wil find out in Jan. that is when they do the chromosomal studies. I forget what she said the 3rd one was ..have to check my notes.

We have 2 or 3 inches of snow and having a White Christmas in Ohio. Wanted to go skiing this weekend but kind of cold.

I think a lot this season how lucky I am to have my husband. I could have been a widow. I'm not saying this out of pity or attention just that you dont realize how importatnt someone is until you almost lose them. And vice versa. He says he wouldnt be able to do all he does without me. Being a nurse is helpful iwth insurance forms, ordering meds, etc. What a headache it all is and the time it takes. I feel sorry for the elderly even thougth I;m in my 50;s.

Someone mentioned their friends don;t understand how short life is..when you have a serious illness or you;ve ever lost soemone illness, auto accident, etc..

When you go thru soemthing like this you can face it or deny it . My dad is 83 and facing his final months of life from a terrible disease called amyeloidois. It is a protein that effects his muscles, bones, and organs. I think this is hard on my husband, Bill, seeing him this way.

At this time of year we remember the true reason for the season: Jesus and have faith to face what we have to.

God Bless and Mary Christmas. and Pray for our nephew who got deployed to Afghanistan Dec. 15th. He is Bills twin sisters son.

Merry Christmas. This also my first post-dx Christmas! I am also

feeling the effects on my digestive system from Gleevec. I am seeing

my GI dr in two weeks to discuss. Huge amount of gas and other poor

bowel problems. Have you found anything that helps, or any food or

drug that aggravates the problem?

Michael

My first cml Christmas, too.  Just got back from a trip to NC to visit my husband's family.  Phil, you came to mind when we spent one morning beachcombing.  Walked a LONG way down the beach.  Too long.  I felt a shart-attack coming on way before we got back to our starting point.  Oh oh.  Made me think of what you said about scuba diving and getting out of a drysuit.  I wonder which would be worse during a dive. . .a shark attack or a shart attack.  Either one would be a problem!  Congrats, by the way, on your pcr results.

Happy holidays to all.  Friends and family are what really count!  I hope that everyone is enjoying this holiday season.

Marnie

Hi Michael,

Worst things for me are too much red wine or very spicy and/or greasy food - one of my favourite dishes, ceviche, is a real killer (raw fish marinated in lime juice with chilies served with salad) and I do miss it!

"I wonder which would be worse during a dive. . .a shark attack or a shart attack"

Even without CML the former tends to cause the latter!  A Gleevec assisted attack might actually be a useful escape strategy - sudden change in buoyancy plus masking of shark's ability to detect you in the reduced vis.

All the best

Phil

My first christmas since Dx too. Michael I have terrible stomach issues, mainly constant pain and severe bloating. Saw my G.I. Doc and had several tests which showed "slow emptying of intestines" He (Doc) has prescribed a drug called Reglan. So far it is helping. Is this caused by the Gleevec? Who knows... Had issues before Dx but nothing this severe. Good luck.

Hi:  Wishing you and everyone else a Very Merrry Christmas and a New Year of New Beginnings in finding a cure for CML.  I just celebrated my 11th Christmas since my Diagnosis in Dec. of 1998, and I tell you this so that you will have faith and determination to fight this disease.

There are many of us who have gotten far without a BMT, and have achieved a remission so that we can go on to see all the new miracles that are ahead of us in the fight for Cancer.  I have been in remission 8 years now, and I am still on Gleevec 400mg.

You have to stop and think that there was nothing available for us back in the 90's except for Interferon, and so many people could not take it.  I was one of them.

I just pray for something to be found to get rid of this disease and many others.  We have so many things available now since they found out how to control it and stop its progression.

Enjoy your New Years Day and be Thankful For All the Hard Work Being Done in Research.

God Bless Everyone

Susan
