Hello,

I am a CML patient diagnosed July 2009.  I also have Polycystic Kidney Disease.  Because of my decreased kidney function my Gleevec dose has had to be decreased to 200mg.  Does anyone else take 200mg and for how long have you been on that dose.  Once I have been in remission for two years (January 2011) they will evaluate me for a kidney transplant.  Has anyone else on Gleevec had a kidney transplant?  Thank you for your support.

Mary

One study of Japanese CML patients studied Gleevec dosages of 100mg, 200mg, 300mg, and 400mg and compared results:

In this fairly small study, 50% of those taking 100mg or 200mg per day achieved a 3 log reduction (MMR).

When someone taking Gleevec needs surgery, the Gleevec is normally discontinued for a short period of time (before and after surgery).
