Hi, hope everyone had a good summer. Here in the midwest leaves are beginning to drop and squirrels are hiding nuts so you know what that means...

I had my BMB Aug. 18 and ever since I had it, I've had terrible back and leg pain on the same side of my BMB. My Onc's response is ahhhh, yes, it will get better in time. I didn't have this problem with my first BMB which was on my other side. I cannot sit for more than 10 min without pain in the area of my BMB and the leg. It healed nicely so it's not infected. I'm only comfortable walking around (depending on the pain level) or laying down.  I have been exercising by walking several times a week which I have to take a pain pill before I do long walks. Has anyone had any lingering problems from a BMB?

Thanks so much and so glad you're here.

The pain should not last more than a week.  There is something else wrong, either associated or not associated with the BMB.  I would check with your regular doc if it continues.  If you also have a fever, it is more serious.

There are several major nerves around the pelvis, and one possibility is that a nerve could have been impacted by the procedure, although most docs should know how to avoid the major nerves:

Thank you Trey, you are a wealth of information. I didn't know whether to call Onc or PCP. I will probably give it a few more wks. then call a Dr.

I've had 3 BMB's to date and my 2nd one was the worst. I had pain in the area and in my leg for at least a month afterward. I couldn't even roll over in bed for the first couple weeks.

During the procedure I had intense pain shoot down my entire leg, all the way to my ankle. Not sure if the Dr. hit a nerve or what, it took him 25min to do the procedure which is a lot longer than normal. It was horrible.

I would say as long as the site looks fine (no redness, swelling etc...) I'd give it more time and see if you notice improvement. It never hurts to let your Dr. know though, just to be on the safe side.

Good luck, I hope you heal soon. ;-(

867-5309 - BTW, that was a great song

Thanks for sharing your experience.

When I had my BMB there was an unforgetable moment of pain then I told the Onc that it felt like he had hit a nerve. That's what I think happened. I will give it a little bit more time then I will see someone.

Haven't had pain last that long with any of my bmb's.  I'd probably call your regular doc and see if he/she thinks you should go in (at the very least, you may be able to get something for the pain).  And if you don't see a chiropractor, one could help if something is pinching.
