I just got my lab back my AST level jumped from 24 to 39, I've been on Gleevec for 2 1/2 years. The normal level is 36.

Trey can you weight in, has this happened to anyone else?

Last CMC showed liver enzymes elevated, went to a good Naturopath and he recommended 4 Tumeric, 10,000 mg Vitamen D, and 3 milk thistle (silymarin) daily. Also use One
Day Detox Dandeloin tea, and Nettle Tea and a slice of ginger every day...in two months liver tests were below normal.Janis

Hi Janis

I am on Sprycel and also noticed a jump in my AST and my Oncologist thought it might be from Tylenol. I was going through some horrible dental work so had been taking a lot of Tylenol. I stopped/greatly decreased the Tylenol and my AST went back to normal.

Hi, Janis,

That's not an increase to be concerned about. Docs don't start getting excited unless the level hits 100. My levels went from 18 to 89 to 500 and finally topped out at 1500. Not a good thing but I had no damage and after stopping Gleevec it was back to within normal range in 7 weeks. I've never had a blip with Sprycel.

Our clinics high normal is 44. Your clinic is very conservative if 36 is their high normal.

Maintaining MMR; 2/15 PCRU; 8/16 drifting in and out of undetected like a wave meeting the shore. Retired 12/23/2016! 18 months of PCRU, most recent at Mayo on 7/25/17 was negative at their new sensitivity reporting of 0.003.
