Anyone else have back pain bad enough that they have had RFA to get relief? I still blame it on the TKI's. Don't get me wrong... I am grateful to have the meds. But I truly believe they destroy our bodies.

Diagnosed in September 2011. Tried one year of Sprycel. Had great response. Became undetectable in a few months. Changed to Tasigna hoping for less side effects. Self medicated myself down to 20% dose and held for 3 years before becoming detectable again. It has been a journey that has helped me realize what life is about! I am all about a balanced life. I firmly agree with my decision to lower my dose. What is life if you aren't living? Mine will never be the way it was, but it is going to be as good as I can make it! Drs PRACTICE medicine, we can guide our dr to help us with a better life! Don't settle until it's acceptable to you!

What is RFA?  I am thinking it is radio frequendy something? See other discussion today about ibuprofen and Gleevec. Seems like back pain is a common theme lately. Would be great to know what is really safe and what's not.

Sorry... It is radio frequency ablation..Its basically probes inserted VERY close to the spine to "burn" the nerves. It does work, but somewhat radical in some people opinion.

I never had back pain from Gleevec, but still have issues with my legs from damage done from muscle cramps from the Gleevec.

Use to get RFA for both lower back and neck.  Have had it done several times.  Each time it will last approx. a year.  Steroids injections usually get to a point they don't help.  Now I have a pacemaker and my cardio doc won't let me get RFA.  Says my pace maker is pacing 90% of the time....This was before I got CML...

I have not had RFA, but I had a very nasty spinal nerve injury in Oct 14 that is ongoing. There is not a very good explanation as to how it happened - I just slept on a plane in a seated position!

Diagnosed 9 June 2011, Glivec 400mg June 2011-July 2017, Tasigna 600mg July 2017-present (switched due to intolerable side effects, and desire for future cessation attempt).

Commenced monthly testing when MR4.0 lost during 2012.

2017: <0.01, <0.01, 0.005 (200mg Glivec, Adelaide) <0.01, 0.001 (new test sensitivity)
