Hey Guys,

Well the results are in.  Not as good as I had hoped but still heading in the right direction.  Of course we all always hope for PCRU but I'm not there yet.  Must be all the booze, girls, and hard living slowing down my progress  ;-)

Here's a quick progress chart for those interested. (Oh, and btw, I'm on 400mg of G and have been since the beginning.  I've never missed a dose)

DateMajor e13a2 (b2a2)Major e14a2 (b3a2)Combined

3/31/09Not Detected0.028%0.028%
7/8/09Not Detected0.020%0.020%

All my CBC counts are great and I feel good so for now I'm just going to keep plugging along.

Just looking at your results looks like you achieved Complete Cytogenetic Response (CCR or CCyR) in less than 6 months, which is very good.  Putting too much emphasis on PCRU is going to disappoint many people, since only about 5% of CML patients ever achieve it (the percentage may be creeping up a little since new drugs were introduced).  It would be better to focus on 3 log reduction, and you are likely very close to that now.

Hey Guys,

Well I can't believe it's been a year already since I was first DX'd and started G.  I remember it being so crazy last year this time not knowing what was going to happen.  It was pretty damn scarry when you first learn you have CML.  I've been lucky to have a great Onc and just as lucky to have found this board where I've learned so much and have really been able to keep things in perspective by hearing from people that are in the same boat I am.

So far my side effects have been very managable and I would say my life is pretty much normal which is more than I could ever have hoped for.  My totally awesome wife as been great through this entire process; so supportive and always there when I need her.  She follows this board as closely as I do and we feel connected to everyone here.

My 1-year results made for a great day.  I'm not PCRU yet but I think 0.007% is a great place to be and most likely a 3-log reduction.  And to celebrate, since I have the James Bond PCR count (007) I think I'm going to have myself a martini tonight (shaken, not stirred) of course.  Maybe I'll even fire up one of the old Bond flicks with Sean Connery.

Ok, quick vote: who was the best Bond?

I vote for Connery!

Anyway, here are the results:

I'm sure I'll make some enemies, but frankly, Daniel Craig is the only Bond to ever get me fired up for a spy flick.
