Speak Up - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The course of cancer research could change forever, if we act now.

In the next month, Congress will make a big decision about how much to invest in the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the nation's biggest source of cancer research funding.

Adjusting for inflation, NIH has lost $6.5 billion in funding since 2003.

Sorry the letter was cut off.

Congress has an incredible opportunity right now to restore some of that lost funding and find the next breakthrough for cancer and other diseases. Without this funding, the status quo will continue and cancer patients could lose their lives waiting longer for treatments to be developed.

Tell Congress your #Reason4Research and demand strong funding for the NIH - send your letter now >>

Take Action
This window of opportunity won't be open long: the House and Senate have only until December 11 to determine how the funding in the next budget will be invested. Before they decide, we need to make sure that they hear from concerned advocates like you, asking them to put their support behind disease research at the NIH.

There's no time to waste. With every day that passes, cures are going undiscovered - and patients are desperately waiting for new treatments.

Researchers are ready to move forward: since 2003, grant applications to the NIH have increased by almost 50 percent - but over the same period, the NIH went from funding nearly one out of three grant applications to only one in six.

This budget is our chance to reverse this dangerous trend and give cancer researchers the tools they need to take on this and other diseases.

Send your letter to Congress now demanding strong funding for the NIH. We all have a #Reason4Research, and Congress needs to hear yours!

Thanks in advance for raising your voice on this important issue.
