I started taking Tasigna for the last 3 months and I have bad bone pain in my left shoulder. My question is does this go away or subside in any way. I work out 3 times a week and it is interfering in my workouts. I take 600 mg a day 2 in the morning 2 at night. I was on Gleevec but my doctor was not happy with the results. Are there any over the counter meds i can take to help alleviate this pain.

The bone pain for me eventually went away. My pain was in my hips and legs. I the first few weeks was bad for me. I was on short term disability. I had trouble getting out of bed to use the bathroom.

The bone pain and cramping was bad for the first couple months on Tas. It went away and did not return. I think, from what others say, the side effects from Tasigna are milder than the other TKIs. Took it for four years with only mild skin irritation.

sax, For quite some time now if I just touch my shoulder bones they are pretty sore so I just don't touch them, I really don't think it's cml related I think my bones are just getting old and they don't want to be bothered anymore so I gave up housework.  Billie

My bone/joint pain was really, really bad during the first few weeks of Tasigna, but later subsided. I do still have some joint pain, but it is tolerable. A couple of months ago, I went out of town and forgot to take my TKI with me, missing four doses. I woke up joint pain-free for a couple of days and it was wonderful. Pretty much all my side effects (some weird ones too) have been very unpredictable, some come and go and others linger, but most have been tolerable.

Housework is soooo overrated Billie. The mess just comes back the next day anyway. I am still having muscle/bone pain. Nausea much less severe with splitting my gleevec dose (wish I'd done it sooner!). Wondering if the bone pain has anything to do with remodeling the bone or bone marrow. Anyone know?

I have been on Tasigna for 2 1/2 years and had some minor bone pain initially (2-3 months) as the Tasigna quickly destroyed the cancer cells. Since then, almost nothing. I exercise regularly and have had no problems with exercise other than the slight fatigue I get from Tasigna.

Have you increased your intake of magnesium and potassium since you started Tasigna? Have you had these amounts measured since you started Tasigna? I am wondering if that is a factor in your bone pain.

Hi Gail, Housework is bad bad bad! I guess it's just hit and miss with these meds until you find something that works for you. It seems like everybody is getting bone and joint pain at the same time must be the blue moon. Oh crap I have a nice breeze coming in my window after all this heat and I smell a skunk gotta batten down the hatches.  Billie
