So a CML thread on Facebook someone commented that people on Tasigna should NEVER take Tylenol.  I take tylenol for leg and back pain.  I couldnt find any info online, could they just have been talking about potential liver damage?

JPD, In a lot of cases tylonal is the only pain reliever we are allowed to use. Always check with your onc about anything you want to use. I bought Alleve because a lot of people on the board are taking it, as an afterthought I called my onc just to double check if it was okay to take, My ONC and CARDIO docs said absolutely not, just take tylonal for pain. Check with him about using anything topical

I'm not sure on the Tasigna, but they don't like you using Tylenol with Gleevec mainly because they are both hard on the liver. My doc told me as long as my liver function was okay I could take Tylenol.

There are no major drug-to-drug interactions between TKI drugs and NSAIDs.  But the TKI drugs can increase the blood concentration of some of them (see chart in link below).

Although they are not drug-to-drug interactions, there is some question as to whether ibuprofen can interfere with drug uptake, and the issue with tylenol is liver toxicity.  Personally I avoid both of them and prefer to take naproxen (Aleve).

Here is an artcle covering the known important drug-to-drug interactions between TKIs and other drugs:

(see page e83)

Good link, Trey. I'm on amlodipine, even though it swells my feet, and carvedilol, and lately Advil for my leg, all of which are on the list as interacting with gleevec. Both the cardiologist and the oncologist know about this, but never said anything to me. I guess at some point the benefits outweigh the negatives.

Diagnosed in February 2014. Started Imatinib 400 in April.

2015:     0.22     0.16     0.04     0.55

Trey. Thanks for the list. I may print it and give to my onc. The persons I trust the most for drug interaction info are pharmacists. They have access to tons of databases and FDA warnings before most of us hear about it plus they have doctorates in drugs! Btw, couldn't find acetaminophen on the list. Did I miss it?
