Hi Trey and everyone, I had blood work done February 3, 2015 and today is March 6th, the hematologist phoned me today, to say that he received the results of my PCR test TODAY.  Dec. 02, 2014 IS-NCN** was 0.72 log reduction 2.2, February 03, 2015 IS-NCN**0.67 log reduction 1.97.  Dr. said that we will do another PCR test April 2nd and the results will be in on May 6th. The Dr. said that I might have to discontinue the Gleevec, and be put on another TKI.  I told him I was pleased with the Gleevec, can I take 400 mg. Monday and Friday, and 300mg the other five days.  I thought that increasing the Gleevec 200 mg. per week might make a difference.  He answered no, we will do another PCR test April 2nd and you might have to change TKI's.  I told him I am happy with this result, I know that I can live like this. I had contacted his office a few times regarding the results. It was very nice of him to phone me, it was appreciated. I would like to know your opinion. Thank you.

The two PCRs are essentially flat.  Your Onc wants to do another PCR and see what the outcome is, which is appropriate.  He just seems to want a faster/deeper result.  Everyone wants that.  Everyone wants extra ice cream too.  I would wait until that next PCR result is available to decide what to discuss with the Onc.
