My 6 week blood work on Gleevec went up to 8% from 2.6%, even thou I had increased to 600mg of Gleevec. The Doc is switching me to Tasigna. Last Friday I got my EKG, more blood work and a prescription for Nausea. I am still waiting on Insurance to get the Tasigna, should have them pills by next week. And I already got pills for nausea. Is this nausea common?
I guess she.... Doc is getting me prepared for that first dose of Tasigna, don't sound to good to me.
1 2012 CML detected Started Gleevec 400 mg
In nov 2014 my pcr started to rise by Feb I stopped Gleevec and went onto
2 2015 Tasigna 600 mg/day
I have been PCRU for 2 years and stopped Tasigna 4 7 2017
5 8 2017 results 0.008
5 30 2017 results 0.028
6 30 2017 results 0.3, I have restarted the Tasigna because it went above 0.1
My son
11 2011 CML detected Started Gleevec 400 mg
He went 2 1/2 years on gleevec and lost PCRU
Started Sprycel went PCRU for 2 years and stopped the Sprycel, went back for 3 month checkup and PCR was 8.0
He went back onto Sprycel and now is PCRU again

I've been on Gleevec for 3 weeks now and the nausea is horrible. My stomach and GI tract were a train wreck long before CML & Gleevec came along and I take other meds as well, so this is just aggravating everything. I called my gastro today and asked for an Rx of Zofran and he agreed.
Not only am I nauseous and just feeling sick, but nothing tastes good anymore. I don't want to eat, but I make myself and can't find much that I can stand. Back to a pretty bland BRAT diet....whatever works.

I had a heap of nausea on Gleevec (600 and for a short while 800). I have very little on Tasigna - I'll have nothing for months and then a week or so where it's there some of the time.
I remember seeing a study showing nausea is much more common on Gleevec than Tasigna so I'm guessing my experience is typical.

I started with Tasigna this past Saturday. I havn't seen anything new for side effects yet. But this waiting 2 hours after the evening meal to take the Tasigna pill then wait another hour before I can have anything to eat, is something else. that 3 hours. I was ready to eat the hole bag of cookies, and the crumbs, when I could. The phone rang and I never even ate the cookies....
Now I will wait to see if I lose the hair on my legs, be so nice to not have to shave them. And for my arms, with Gleevec, I said I had fur on them, Hope I shed their too.
