I just had to share this...I couldn't stand the blood showing in my eye, after doing some research my every morning process is to get two black tea bags, put them in a cup, add boiling water, take them out of the water, dump the tea in the cup, keeping as much moisture in the bags as possible, they are hot so you can't put them in your eye.  You have to put the bags in the freezer for a few minutes.

When they are cold, I squeeze some of the liquid out and drop into each eye, (very little) be careful...then put the bags on my eyes (one on each) under a bag of frozen peas for as long as I can stand it at least 15 mins.  This is a time caffeine really works for you as a diuretic it reduces those swollen veins.

Then whip up an egg white and put on any bags they may have formed over night from peripheral edema, the egg white will dry and tighten the skin in the process.  For best effects you can leave some on.

You may want to try having some pineapple, which contains an enzyme called bromelain.  Check it out on the internet- It is known to help clear up bruises faster.  I used to have low platelets and was constantly getting bruises from sports, etc.  I have used pineapple with good success - fresh seems to be best.

Thanks for this useful info.  Are you saying I could apply some fresh pineapple to my eye area to reduce inflammation?

I found the easiest way to get rid of the peri-orbital edema is to avoid it in the first place and sleep on a 5" wedge. It's high enough to keep the fluid draining but low enough to sleep on comfortably.

I ordered something online but it's bigger than 5 inches.  Can you tell me how much you paid, did you get it from Hammacher Schlemler (sp!)?

My first advice is do not panic trying to figure out how to get rid of the eye bleed.  I have had a few, and some were really bad.  They gradually just go away without doing anything.  They look horrible, and everybody was looking at me when I went out to the stores.  Maybe some of these tips will help you to get rid of it faster.  I just leave it alone.

I got my wedge from amazon and it's made by Science of Sleep.  They aren't cheap but I've found they work for me.

God luck!

If you have a go at switching the time when you take the Gleevec, you'll find the fluid moves as well,   I used to get it around my ankles in the afternoon, (when I took it in the morning), I have a desk job.

The biggest help I found to reduce eye bleeds was to determine the triggers. For me, it's straining physically. Moving the couch will do it, lifting the mattress, etc.

My best way to reduce the huge frog eyes is to, again, remove some triggers. In particular, dust mites. If there's a lot of dust mites around, I'm puffier in the morning.

Good tips all. I'll have to try a few.

Yeah, I agree with this - I got my first (and so far only) eye bleed after I took an anti-inflammatory (Celecoxib) - it hasn't happened with diclofenac so I use that instead for physical pain/inflammation now. Celecoxib was fantastic for my pain, but I don't take this drug anymore just to reduce the risk of eye bleeds (it also made my hair fall out when I took it for 3 months straight, before diagnosis though).
