My dentist just noticed discoloration on the roof of my mouth (hard palate area only). There are purple streaks that look like bruising. No soreness and no raised or hard areas and nothing else that feels unusual. Has anyone else had this and could it be a Gleevec side effect? I've been on Gleevec since 2004, 800 mg Gleevec since 2006, and pcru for 4+ years. Oral surgeon looked at it and said he would check into it but did not recommend a biopsy at this point.

Thanks.

I'm on Gleevec too - my throat is often red, most of the time if I have a look at it, it looks a bit like I have a sore throat, sort of like red streaks. I assumed it was something to do with the Gleevec and how it can affect blood vessels.

It sounds like you are doing all the right things though in getting it checked out

Diagnosed 9 June 2011, Glivec 400mg June 2011-July 2017, Tasigna 600mg July 2017-present (switched due to intolerable side effects, and desire for future cessation attempt).

Commenced monthly testing when MR4.0 lost during 2012.

My husband was on Gleevec for some time and he had large dark veins under his tongue, but he is no longer on Gleevec, and they are much smaller and lighter in color now. Looks normal, but would let the doc research still.  Hope all is well.
