Does anyone out there have links to articles which link TKIs to skin rash or irritation?  I'll be seeing my onc in a couple of weeks.  I continue to have an awful rash on my neck, scalp and in and around my ears.  At my last visit, my onc was skeptical that the skin issues were related to Sprycel.  I'm hoping to convince him to try a lower dosage.  I've been close to 2 years PCRU now, and the rash is driving me crazy.

Thanks for any info you might have.

Marnie

Howdy Marnie. Been on Sprycel for over 3 years now. I have had skin issues since the beginning. The side effect sheet for Sprycel and other TKI's are a long one....

Still here nearly 5 years after being diagnosed in borderline Chronic /Accellerated phase, over 3 years PCRU.

Generally it is thought that c-Kit and/or PDGFR/EGFR inhibition by TKI drugs are the culprit in many skin issues.  It is difficult to find scholarly articles about such issues which I have not written, but here is some info:

I have written previously about moose-butt skin syndrome, as you are well aware.

I remember your scholarly article about the moose-butt skin syndrome.  We decided that monkey-butt powder was the cure.   Shortly after that discussion, I sent a bottle of said powder to Billie, and I haven't heard if her moose-butt rash cleared up or not.

The monkey-butt powder in the pink can works best on ladies.  The red can is more macho (and matches the red butt of the monkey in the picture) and is more appropriate for guys.  Monkey-butt powder can be found in most hardware stores.  It continues to work wonders for motorcycle-saddle-butt.

Thanks for the link.  It was what I was looking for. .. I had vaguely remember something about -KIT, but not enough to do an effective search.

Here are some additional articles including some which focus on EGFR inhibition by TKI drugs:

Hi Marnie,

The monkey butt powder does work. I've had a rash on the back of my scalp and my hairline in the back, silly me I never thought of putting monkey butt powder on my head. I'm still on 50mg of S I've had this rash for a couple years, I'ts not real bad maybe because I'm on the lower dose.     Billie
