Hi Everyone,
My platelet count usually hovers anywhere form 145-160 or so. Over the past six weeks it went up to 178 and now 186. Does this mean anything? Other counts are normal. Thanks, Josh

Still somewhat low normal. Maybe it means your blood quality is improving if this trend continues.

After a couple of counts in the 200 my PLT have been averaging in the 110s since my transplant. But I did have those 200+ for a couple of checkups and it was kind of fun. But the reason I mention this is that PLT are pretty psychotic and fluctuate madly.
To the point, you might only be running a temporarily higher number. They can jump up, down and around. But if they get higher, it shouldn't be anything to worry about. Like Trey said, you're just making more of them for now. As long as they stay in range, you're fine.
If you get up to where my wife's hang out, they might ask you for a donation. She is on the list and donates PLT often. We just didn't know how big her supply was when I was sick or they might've just hooked her and me sraight up to each other.
Blessings

Josh,
For the past 3.5 years I have had pretty low PLT. 20-30K and 70K on a good day. I sort of got used to it (like who doesn't worry when they don't have to? Siddhartha? Jesus?). Just recently, my PLT jumped to 91,000. It freaked me out. I was sure my PCR would have gone up again (I had a minor uptick from .015 to .019 IS). Ironically, the PCR came back undetectable for the abnormal proteins tested (PCRU). It appears there is no real rhyme or reason looking only at the PLT or WBC for CML when further from diagnosis. Most of my counts are still very low with the exception of my metabolic panel which is all normal. The proof of the pudding is molecular.
As long as your PCR is in a good place, and your PLT are functioning well, I would not worry so much. I know, easier said than done.
Take care. Be well.
Tedsey

Changes make us nervous but the reality is this is probably good as you are more in the normal range.

Joshlee - those look good to me, mine are usually pretty low, I am happy when they are in the normal range
Wait...what? Tedsey, did you just sneak in to this thread that you got a PCRU result??
