Congratulations, Pin! Steve and I also went on our honeymoon a year after our marriage, that was nearly 40 years ago, didn't seem to hurt us any!

Pin,
Hope you had a great trip. You had mentioned about herbal supplements you were taking along with Gleevec. I am on 40 mg Gleevic and taking 1000 mg x 3 per day curcumin. It is an uncharted territory ..any comments ?

Hi
I am happy to see another curcumin fellow. I am a newly diagnosed CmL patient. I just got first 3 months pcr which is .876 %.Trey seems to be happy about it. Now I have started taking curcumin 1000 mg x 3 times per day. I hope this may enhance my chance of reaching MMR on time...What do you think ?

Hi thomaskk, my herbals were chinese type medicine herbs, roots of various plants - I can't remember all of them exactly now. We still don't know for certain if that is what caused my results to go the way that they did - there's every possibility that it could have happened like that anyway. My gut (haha) feeling is that it was impacting indirectly on my absorption of the medication. But there is no way to be sure. As a result, I am much more careful now of any drugs, herbal or otherwise that I take. Just in case.
I don't know much about curcumin personally, as even though I bought some to try, I never took it because I was worried about the potential for bleeding side effects (e.g., bruising, petichiae etc.) as has been reported by some of our members. I already have enough issues with blood vessels popping randomly, and I wasn't keen on introducing another thing into the mix that may have that type of effect. Certainly there are some strong advocates of curcumin on this board though that will be able to give you some better advice though!
And thanks! I had a wonderful trip, America is a fantastic country!
Cheers,
Pin.

Just got my latest PCR test back - I'm back at 'detectable levels', but still less than 4 log (reported as <0.01), which is good. The doctors keep telling me it's basically the same, but they don't know what it feels like, haha!

Hi Pin,
You like living on the edge, keeps that adrenaline rush going. Fingers crossed only one or two more bounces to go, if any, and then you'll see negatives.

HI Jen: Glad you joined us. You will get to learn a lot just by reading the many posts. We have a lot of new members, as well as some oldies here like me.
We are always here to help you, and try to answer any questions you might have. Its a lot to absorb in the beginning, but just remember that CML is a very treatable type of Leukemia. Just ask anything you want to at anytime. WELCOME

Hi Pin
I really understand how you feel. No words of wisdom here. I just keep trying to remember that this is long race and although I scrutinize and dwell on each result, in the aggregate I am doing well, and so are you. My boys just had birthdays the last couple of days (some how they wound up having birthdays only a few days apart). Back in 2010 I didn't even know if I would see too many more birthdays. So I try to just keep going. As we know, as long as we stay MMR then we are doing well. Hope you ride through this wave without too much anxiety.
I wish you the best

I know this advice is not easy, but you need to try to focus your energy on life, not test numbers. They are only numbers. Give yourself the ability and permission to work on real life matters that do not include cancer. Feel better. Please
