I took my first pill last night and this morning I woke up with a light headache. So far, that is the only side effect I have. I'm sure there are more coming. When I was in Gleevec my platelets were low so my doc told me that I could only have one or twoTylenols a day to releif any pain. I guess I should take one Tylenol to help me get rid of this headache. Is this headache going to go away eventually or is it going to last? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated - Thanks!

Tylenol is usually not recommended, cause it's a bit tougher on the liver. I take 220mg Aleve (with a little food) for headaches and it seems to work really well. For Gleevec, anyway, there was a study that showed the possibility of Advil/Ibuprofen having a negative impact on Gleevec uptake in the bloodstream, so I no longer take Ibuprofen.

Thanks Dan - Everything I read said not to take Tylenol, but my doctor said that's the only pain reliever I could take due to my low platelets. I hope this doesn't create an issue with my liver.

Hi Mobirdies
I started Sprycel 100 mg in July 2012, was on it for a few weeks until my platelets tanked, then was taken off it for 49 days. During this 49-day period I had a splenectomy for a pre-existing condition of Immune thrombocytopenia (low platelets), and healed up a bit and got my platelets up from the spleen pull. I went back on 50 mg Sprycel in Sept for a couple weeks, quickly went to alternating 50 mg and 100 mg pills for 2 weeks, and then have been on 100 mg S since about Oct 2012.
Initially I had some fairly nasty headaches, etc, but now I hardly ever have any headaches and they are not worth taking any headache medicine for. But I have gotten other side effects off and on, nothing major, such as itchy scalp, acne, etc. Lately I have been experiencing a bit of numbness in a couple fingers on my left hand when I am sleeping and wake up. But overall, it is working out pretty well. I also work out almost every day.
Hope the S works out for you!

HI, Mobirdies. . .the headaches will go away. Mine lasted for about 2 weeks and were not too bad. Haven't had a headache since.

Headache should pass in a few days. I had a slight headache first day or two then it went away then about a week later I got a nasty headache one night, after that one I was fine. It is not permanent, it will let up after your body gets used to it.

More birdies will cure your headache. Your lack of birdies is likely caused by pronation followed by supination.

Thanks CallMeLucky! I hope my headache goes away for good. Today I had a small headache in the morning and it went away without having to take any Tylenol.
