Is your resistance to every bug that comes along lowered when on Gleevec?

Just after diagnosis there could be mildly reduced resistance as the leukemic cells are rapidly killed off and the good WBCs are ramping up.  But after that, no.

Speaking from personal experience, what Trey says was true for me.

After 2 months of treatment my wbc and anc count was pretty low, and i got a bad throat infection, and had to go on antibiotics.

I have not had any problems after that (knock on wood), even have 2 small children in kindergarten who brings home all kinds of "stuff", but i haven`t caught any of it After 6 months wbc and anc are now in the normal range.

This is just my experience, and i know some people suffer from low wbc counts after long term use of tki`s.
