My schedule changes and when i realize that i missed taking my pill, i normally, just take it right then and take the next one in less than 20 hours and the next...until i have caught up.  Is this wrong?  I just can't see skipping it.  I have missed often, but i have always got caught back up.  My blood numbers are good.

I take mine at night, sometimes I will wake up in the morning and realize I missed it and take it right then.  I will then go back to taking it as scheduled that evening.  I am on 400mg and there are people who take 600mg and 800mg, so I don't worry about overdosing or anything like that.  If it is sporadic I don't think you will have any issue, if you are always taking it at irregular intervals eventually I could see it becoming a problem where your peaks and troughs may become too extreme and result in more side effects and/or reduced efficacy.  So I would say try to get it as consistent as you can, but I think an occasional miss and catchup within less than a day is likely not going to be an issue.

Hi:  I have never missed a dose of my Gleevec.  You have to have a routine.  You should always take it with a meal to avoid nausea.  I have never changed my routine.  I take it every morning with breakfast.  I have my pills right on the table next to my coffee with a big glass of water. I eat and then take my pills with the water. Then I am done for the day until the next morning.  Some people like to do it with dinner.  When we go away I have them right in my purse, and if we are in a restaurant for breakfast I still do the same process.  If you get a routine, it becomes habit so you do not forget.

Susan
