Hi all,

When I was diagnosed with CML, I was asked if there was any history of blood diseases in my family.  Although I have a big family, what with all the cousins, second cousins, etc. on all sides, I didn't know of anyone with a blood disease.

My grandma told me last week that she was reminded that her nephew (so, my first cousin once removed) actually has a marrow disease where his marrow is being replaced with fibrous tissue.  I didn't get the name but a google search makes it seem like it is probably primary myelofibrosis.

Is there any reason to suggest that there is a familial link between such disorders?  I do know that I have some scar tissue associated with the CML, but my onc has never said anything about it and the pathologist said it wasn't major and was normal with CML.

Hi, I was told that there is no link, however I find it strange that my great grandmother had leukemia and my grandmother had a marrow disorder. I was recently diagnosed with CML in early August 2011. Best of luck!
