Im scheduled for my first colonoscopy next week - ewww yech!!  I cant eat anything the day before procedure and was wondering if I should try taking gleevec on an empty stomach or skip it for one day??  For those of you who have had one what did you do??

Hi:  Do not worry about the Colonoscopy being its your first.  The prep is the worst part of it, and your in and out of the bathroom a lot.  I believe I skipped my Gleevec that day.  Then when I got home the next morning after the procedure was over, I just had a light breakfast and took my pill. So I missed one dose.

Don't worry about the one dose, and especially if you have been on it for awhile.  Good Luck

The other thing is if you take Gleevec on an empty stomach you'll more than likely vomit it back up. Has happened to me twice when I haven't had enough food with the Gleevec. Mind you, you feel pretty good once it is out of the stomach.

If you have had the sharts on Gleevec, just wait-you ain't seen 'nuttin yet!

PS Don't worry, the colonoscopy is a cake walk

Apply Vaseline BEFORE you take a sip of that CLEAR YOU OUT medicine....OUCH!

Thanks so much for all your responses - I will skip my pill on the prep day  -- ok so its a cakewalk but beware the sharts   and vaseline -- uggh!!! will be  glad when its all over!!!!!
