I just got my 9 month bone marrow biopsy results and am happy to report my FISH showed only 1 in 399 cells are philly positive so less than 1%. I guess Tasigna ended up being the drug for me even though we don't always agree. I am feeling very happy and huge relief by this result. I have only been on Tasigna for 3 months the other 6 months were Gleevec.

9 month results are in....

That's wonderful news jenz - It's amazing how these drugs work so differently in different people. Congratulations, and I hope your tests are all this good and better from now on!

Even that one reported leukemic cell was most likely a false positive. Since FISH is a color coded test, the colors can get mixed up when cells align just so. So that should be reported as zero, meaning CCyR.

Since 1 out of 399 may be a false positive may due to FiSH error rate. Should refer to the RT-PCR result for more detail.

I just received my molecular (BCR-ABL) results from my BMBX.. I think I am almost at a 3 log reduction, Trey?
PCR (11/08/11 - dx) 1.9
PCR (05/16/11 - last on Imatinib) 1.297
PCR (08/29/11 - first on Tasigna) 0.0094

It is likely a 3 log reduction by the lab standard. If International Scale, it certainly is -3 log. By your personal starting point (which was quite low by comparison to most people) it is over 2 log reduction. By any measure you are doing well.
