Hey all, just wondering if I could get some help with my tests today. I received my latest blood test results today (been on Gleevec for 9.5 weeks). And they are starting to get low now. Previously, they were hanging on in the normal territory (last test was 3 weeks ago) but now they are low-ish.

This is how I'm looking so far:

WeekHaemoglobinWCCNeutrophilsPlatelets
0128157

112847.238.2387
21189.66.57387
41184.63.3157
61154.33.04172
91153.32.02163

What concerned me though is that she said I had "low lymphocytes" - she didn't say how low but she did want to repeat the test in 2 weeks, which has me a bit worried. I've been feeling very tired for the past few days (not really any  symptoms of a virus that I know of though).

Does anyone know what low lymphocytes could mean?

Also, did anyone have this type of myelosuppression in the beginning but then their counts bounced back up? Or is this how it is likely to stay (or get even lower?)? I thought I had escaped this side effect, but it seems like my counts are just marching down very slowly...

Diagnosed 9 June 2011, Glivec 400mg June 2011-July 2017, Tasigna 600mg July 2017-present (switched due to intolerable side effects, and desire for future cessation attempt).

Commenced monthly testing when MR4.0 lost during 2012.

Hi Pin,

Mine bottomed out at 8-10 wks, they were a bit lower than yours but just above the worry level. At 19 wks most things but not lymphocytes had made it back into the normal range. There is a fair bit of redundancy in the WBCs so I guess just lymphocytes being low is not a biggie. At 11 wks I got a nasty chest cold with minor fever. My GP would have have given me antibiotics but my tummy was pissed already so I got an extension to try and get better by myself and eventually I did. From about the 6wk mark to about 5 months I was tired and often exhausted but in the last month it has definitely improved.

Hope that helps.

J

Hi Pin,

My Lymphocytes dropped down to 0.95 which was a little bit below the normal range, platelets were also low for that blood test which is around the same time frame as yours. I had another blood test done a week and a half later and everything was back in the normal range. Takes a bit of time for things to settle down - perhaps I was lucky and didn't see any of this info at the time, didn't see any of the highs and lows that went on with my blood work, so had no reason to panic. I got a copy of it all from my new doc and everything had settled down by then.

I don't get the impression that Glivec has the same impact as Sprycel does - so don't panic just yet.

Hi guys, Thanks for the responses - I guess the lymphocytes being low could be due to a virus I didn't know I had or just the Gleevec itself. It just freaks me out a bit everytime I get a test result back and something is different... Good to know that the timeframe is normal though, so thank you! P.
