Just venting here, everyone.  I know a lot of people don't have as many problems with nausea on Tasigna as Gleevec, but T has been hitting me hard recently.  I've noticed the last few weeks that after I eat lunch at work, sometimes about 30 min later I'll get hit with a wave of nausea that causes me to stop what I'm doing at my desk for a few minutes until it goes away.  One night a week or so ago, it along with some cramping kept me up.

Now tonight I felt nauseous most of the evening after dinner; I woke up at about 12:40AM at first thinking I was feeling anxious, but that has paused and I'm just extremely nauseous, enough to keep me awake for a couple of hours.  Work sure is going to come soon in the morning...

Ugh - Taylor, I hope this doesn't last for you. Nausea is awful isn't it. I thought I had escaped this side effect, but right now I am getting it most days (albeit mild, I haven't actually thrown up yet). Mine lasts around half an hour to an hour after my Gleevec. I hope you feel better soon though. Best, Pin.

Diagnosed 9 June 2011, Glivec 400mg June 2011-July 2017, Tasigna 600mg July 2017-present (switched due to intolerable side effects, and desire for future cessation attempt).

Commenced monthly testing when MR4.0 lost during 2012.

Well, I haven't gotten nausea in the middle of the night, but for the last few weeks, my bowels have decided to give me an early wake up call between 1-3 am.  I'm hoping the gripin' guts gets their schedule back to normal again soon.  I hate waking up a few hours before my alarm goes off, because it never seems like I get a full night's sleep that way.  More like 2 naps.

Pin,

Check with your doc first - but I take my Glivec with a glass of Buderim Ginger cordial drink, I usually have about half a glass, seems to help most mornings.

A lot of us seem to suffer the joys of nausea, although midnight is especially sucky. I was wondering how many of you have been prescribed and regularly take anti-nausea medication?

I fought the nausea in the first couple of months and even though my doctors were happy to prescribe an antiematic I didn't want to take it (not sure why). Like Pin I wasn't throwing up so I guess it was mild but zombie making all the same. Having finally started taking the meds when required, they've worked really well and I realize how much more useful and alive I am when the meds kill the nausea. I'm at the 6 month mark (yesterday) and the nausea is finally easing off.

My doc gave me Maxolon - metoclopramide hyrochloride anhydrous. She said I could have up to 3 a day but I've only needed more than 1 once. I probably average 3-4 a week. I wonder if that much is bad for me???

I take a Maxolon about once every two or three months, the packet should have dosage requirements - I don't have mine on me so can't check. I doubt 3-4 a week is an issue.

Thanks for that Gerry. It's good to hear that somebody else takes the same drug. Hopefully in the nearish future I'll only need it monthly too.

Hey Taylor,

I feel your pain and have been on the same voyage since Sunday.  It is so wierd that we go for weeks without these lovely side effects and then wham!  Hopefully, it will pass for both of us very soon.

Nat
