I have been on Tasigna for about 10 weeks now and just recently have I started to have a burning sensation in my chest and a weird sore throat.  I have never really had this before and if so it was a very rare occasion.  So I am think that the TKI is causing it?  I do notice it is the worse after I take it morning or night. After reading various posts in here I know that these can be symptoms of GERD or Acid Reflux.  I also am aware that PPI drugs for heartburn or reflux can interact with TKI's.  I do not like this feeling and am worried to go try an over the counter medicine.

I am curious has anyone else had a TKI cause this?  Anyone on Tasigna with this development? I am worried because it sure is uncomfortable nusance especially with the medicine being so troublesome with TKI's.

Oh yeah, this was a big problem for me around the four-five month mark on Tasigna.  Tums helped, and I also tried having some manipulation done on my organs (sounds silly, I too was skeptical until it actually helped) and I haven't had too much of a problem after my body got used to it (or the GERD side-effect cycle finished).  But I still occassionally get that warmth.

It's a side effect but I think it has come about that taking Tums too soon with the medicine, or taking PPIs like Nexium, can inhibit the absorption of the medicine.

Hello Lala   did you find something to help you?  I am gleevec which is ok to take with Prilosec according to one study I read .  I take Gleevec and 4 Potassium pills and there causing so much acid reflux and maybe GERD.  I would like to know if you found something else to help. I am also taking a Proboitic but it doesn't seem to help.
