Hi......two women from Chicago sponsored a bill that passed!  Insurance companies must cover ORAL chem drugs just as they do IV chemotherapy.  yahoo!  Now, we just have to worry about having insurance......getting these expensive drugs is a worry........I am grateful to these women!  Lala

Sounds like good news! Is this just in Illinois? Since our medicine isn't considered a chemotherapy, I hope this covers TKI's as well

This is for Illinois but there are a few other states with the same legislation, too. Here is a link from the LLS site that states that Gleevec IS an oral chemo... http://www.capitolco...aspx?page=state

That's great! The do consider Gleevec an oral chemotherapy drug

Hi:  All this great news is fantastic.  Hopefully this will all go through to all states.  I always said that Gleevec or any other TKI is a Chemo.  Its killing the cancer cells.  Because it is only referred to as a Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor, it was never put in the Chemo category.  Lets see what happens in the future.
