Today marks one year since my husband has his blood drawn resulting in the dr calling to say he had some type of leukemia.  One year and so many things that have changed for the good and for the bad....but one year more of life!  The battle still continues for him, but I believe we'll get that awesome phone call saying he's reached MMR or better yet, CMR!  His PCR results have been a bit up and down, last Sept was 63. something, then had a  fantastic drop to 18. something, while being on and off medication.  January took him to .3, we were so excited to see such a great drop since he was off medication more than he was on!  But, April brought him back to 3. something.  He's on Sprycel, 70mg which will probably increase to 100 when we head back to Michigan in 2 weeks.  So far this is the medication for him...has not had a drug break yet!  So, on this one year anniversary we have much to be thankful for.  Sure, we're still scared and worried, but there is life....

Thanks so much for all the encouragement and advice over the last year!

Audrey

Congrats on your milestone - I celebrated my first Cancerversary in March.  It is amazing to me how much of a roller coaster that first year was!  So glad things are looking up for you.  Hang in there and keep us posted.

So glad to see how far he has come along in a year after starting with a more difficult diagnosis, followed by liver issues keeping him off drugs for extended periods.  We know it was a very long year for both of you.  Great to see how Sprycel is working for him.

Great News Audrey!!!  Thanks for sharing.  I am on 100 mg of Sprycel and in my 5th month.  I know how scary this is.  I keep it to myself most of the time.  I told my shrink that it feels like my life is all about "What If".  I did speak to  a 3 yr CML woman tell me that somedays she forgets that she even has CML.  That sounds like a milestone day.  Just to wake up and not worry or think about cancer.  I hope and prayer that your husband continues to get better.

Congratulations to both of you for getting through what was a very difficult year.  It is very good to hear he is slowly but surely coming along, I know he has had a rough go of it.  It sounds like you are on the right path.  Some take a little longer to get there, but it is comforting to know that most do get there eventually.  Keep doing what your doing, enjoy life as much as possible and I hope to hear that he is MMR by his second cancerversary!

All the best.....

Hi Audrey:  Just keep the faith, and let your husband just keep doing what he is doing to get to where he wants to be.  Every year you celebrate Life is better than anything.  I will have my 13 year Cancerversary in December.  You and your husband keep that in mind, and plan for many more celebrations as each year passes.  Do something nice together To celebrate Life and Thanks for all these TKI's that are available now.

Susan

Hi everyone----today marks my one year of being told I have CML.....Thank God I found this site soon after diagnosis, it has been the best help to to me!!! The year has been full of ups & downs but so glad I am here to talk about it. I have been on Tasigna since Feb. 1st of 2011 & have been in CMR since about 5 months of treatment. I have my appointment for PCR test next week at Cleveland Clinic & pray for good results to hold. I haven't been on this site since about Thanksgiving, have had a bad bout with bronchitis & sinus infection & can't seem to shake it off. I have 2 rounds of antibiotics & mucinex but feel just as bad as the first day it started. So needless to say the holidays were a blur to me, hope everyone else had a great one. Just wanted to post to say THANK YOU to all on this site who has made this last year so reassuring to me that we can live a NEW normal with CML, you are the best most understanding friends anyone with CML could ask for. May all of you be blessed in this new year with good results. Now---back to the couch, to rest some more!!!! Prayers to all, granny d

Grannyd,

Wishing you continued success in your journey, hoping for a great appointment for you!  I too have not been on the site much since they changed it, just too busy with the holidays.  Hope you get better soon so you can celebrate your cancerversary!

Audrey
