I was diagnosed with CML in December 2005 and I have been on Gleevec since that time...400mg per day. I have reached the "no evidence" threshold in my tests and I am extremely grateful for the way in which this drug has "saved my life".
Unfortunately I have a very difficult time with the side effects on Gleevec. One of the worst is the edema I suffer...which for all intents and purposes has changed my appearance. I have significant "pockets" above and below my eyes now that just will not go away. My hematologist and I are discussing whether a switch to Tasigna may help give me some relief from this problem and perhaps even restore me to my old self again (appearance wise). I would be most grateful to hear from anyone who has switched from Gleevec to Tasigna with a view to finding out whether you had your appearance restored while continuing to get a great response from the new drug.
