Hi everyone,
I'm somewhat new to this site and I read the topics daily, I noticed that alot of abbreviations are used for test results, and different stages of treatment. I was hoping that someone could make a short list of what they stand for.

Thank you CallMeLucky that list. I have only been taking Gleeve for 8 wks now and If my platelets are not up by this Friday then my doctor is wanting me to change medicine. I'm not to excited about changing and starting all over again with the new side effects. Gleeve side effects have been managable.

What were your counts at diagnosis and what were your counts from your last CBC results?

Hi, Lori and welcome!
Trey, our resident CML guru, (although Lucky is making huge in roads... ) would tell you that platelets are the last to normalize and 8 weeks might be too early to make that decision.
We have had regular posters who are south of 50k but still hanging in there. Please be sure and post your last blood test so we can see how you're doing.

Depends on how low the platelets are, but Pat correctly states that platelets are usually the last blood count to normalize, so waiting a while longer would generally be a good idea unless the platelets are very severely depressed.

Hi I agree with Pat. Post your last set of results on here, and let Trey or someone who understands everything let you know what they think.
My platelets have been running around 125 for past few years. I hope your doctor is giving your treatment a chance before switching you to another TKI.
You might have a great doctor with good reason for saying this, but some of these doctors that people have seen are not familiar enough with how TKI's work.
