Does anyone (Trey) know why it would have 'slight anisocytosis slight polychromasia few ovalocytes' as a footnote beside a recent result for

RBC Morph (manual)?  Is this something to be worried about?  I am a bit nervous since my PCR results are taking longer to get back this time and perhaps over-worrying (or at least hope so).  Thanks, Skittles

From my expereince, it seems to imply a bit o' anemia.  I wouldn't get worried.  The ovalocytes just describe the shape of some RBC.  This also indicates anemia.

Take care,

Teds

That's been my understanding as well; Anemia is the culprit. For months now I've had macrocytosis, polychromasia, ovalocytes, tear-drop cells and anisocytosis popping up on my CBCs. Doc said all of them were signs of anemia.

The red blood cells have some slight imperfections.  This is not unusual for CML, even when doing well.  The TKIs may cause some of this.  Could be a little anemia.
