Hmmm, so I got a little distracted today and didn't get a chance to go to the restroom until early afternoon.  When I urinated it was very cloudy almost like there was a powder in it or something.  About an hour or so later I went again and this time it was crystal clear.  I want to assume this was just some fluke thing, but I know cloudy urine can be a sign of some unpleasant things like WBC in the urine or low platelets, which would be odd but I have not had a blood test in a few months.

Why do all the weird things come up a week before I am going for my apointment so I can freak about something bad coming back in my results?

Grrr! I hate the run up to test day.

So has anyone else had cloudy urine?

Lucky,

My dd is the queen of UTIs, so I've looked at a lot of her urine - and had my hand peed on holding the specimen cup in place, too!  (TMI, but I've found I can detect UTIs just by odor now.  Certain bacteria give off particular odors - one strain has a pungent floral scent, another smells like cheesey feet, etc.  I can often predict what type of bacteria she is colonizing just by odor.)

Our pediatrician tells me cloudiness can be a sign of infection, so that would be WBC like you thought.  But, it can also be a sign of dehydration - so in that case I'm guessing the cloudy a higher concentration of salts.  The kidneys will keep trying pulling the salts out until the urine is super-saturated.  I've had plenty of times I've whisked her off for a urine test, only to have it come out negative for bacteria.  My dd doesn't like to drink much during the day so she can avoid using public bathrooms at school - hence the cloudy urine - and UTIs that follow.

Those are the two causes of cloudy urine of which I am aware.

I have had partly cloudy with occasional precipitation.  Everyone does.

If it "clears up", then all is well.

Dear Lucky,

I have had uti's off and on for the last 15 years or so. When I went on G in 2007 I was constantly getting them. Sometimes I'd get 2 in 1 month. I tried the cranberry juice and lots of water. But I always ended up calling pcp for antibiotic. Doc, and onc both wanted me to go to a urologist. I've been poked and probed enough. Now that I am on Sprycel I haven't had one for 6 months. I forget what you're on but it wouldn't hurt to mention it to your onc.

A few years back I had a melanoma and just before the surgery the doc gave me 4 shots of something around the site. I peed blue for 24 hours.

I have low PLT, but no cloudy urine.  Sometimes urine is concentrated when you are dehydrated.
