In October 2010 my results showed a PCR of 0.01. Now, in April 2011 it is 0.05. Is this a significant difference? Experimental error?
Thanks

When my PCR ticked up from .25 to .367 over a three month period I was a little concerned, my doctor told me unless it moves a full log in either direction, she basically consideres it to be a comparable result. PCR's are known to have variation from test to test. You should discuss with doctor if you are worried, but that type of variance seems to be normal.

Hi,on the 19th Jan 2011 my PCR had risen about same as yours, first thing onc asked was
had I had an infection?as it happens i had one in Oct 2010 .He said the increase would be monitored
but was not unduly worried. On the 18th April 2011 I had achieved MMR.You will prob have a decrease on next PCR.
Hope this makes you feel better!

Since you likely achieved a 3 log reduction any increase of less than 1 log is normally is dealt with simply by watching the next PCR to see if there is an upward trend line. Since your increase is well under 1 log, there is no required action. Even if a 1 log increase occurs, it is normally only significant if the patient loses CCyR at the same time.
