I have been on Tasigna for a bit over a month,  currently on 600 mg. I have had short-term headaches which have resolved, but a facial rash persists and most concerning is a burning sensation in my face along with the rash that seems to be dose-related. My skin is not dry or itchy, just feels like it is on fire, only affecting the face. I have looked through past postings and may have missed something in regard to this.

Has anyone experienced this flushing/burning sensation on Tasigna, and if so, how long did it last, or if it persists. how is it treated and what causes it ? I had no skin problems or burning on Gleevec, but other issues made it difficult. Any input would be appreciated...thanks !

Dx'd: 8/2008. Started Gleevec 400 mg 11/08.

Drug break 2011.

Started Tasigna 4/11 450 mg.

Reduction to 300 mg Tasigna 1/2012.

PCRU 9/2012.

12/2012 Detectable.

PCRU 4/2013 through 3/2015. (Reduced to 150 mg 7/2014)

12/2015  ? slightly detectable at probably less than 0.01% per Mayo Clinic.

4/2016 PCRU. Still at 150 mg Tasigna.

CESSATION: stopped treatment 7/20/2017.

9/6/2017:  barely detectable at 0.01%.

12/11/2017: PCR at 0.09% (did not do the monthly PCR testing.)

12/18/2017: Inevitable call from Onc. Started back on Tasigna at 150 mg. (Considering Sprycel low dose.)

Janne,

I'm on Sprycel, not Tasigna, but I did experience the same burning feeling in my face. It also affected my upper arms and thighs for some odd reason. I didn't have the rash, nor was my face flushed at that time. I do experience some flushing on occasion now after almost two years. The burning feeling eventually went away; I remember describing it as a windburned feeling at the time.

I started on Gleevec and I didn't have the flushing or burning feeling on it either.

Good luck,

Pat

My latest side effect is a hot, uncomfortable sensation on my forehead, along with the eyebrows, eyes and their itchyness.  I don't know what it is, but the last 3 weeks, its been very uncomfortable and i've noticed a lot of thinning of my eyebrows.  My forehead gets sweaty really quick and and i have that hot, sticky uncomfortable feeling for bouts throught the day, although, if I don't think about it, obviously I don't realize it as much, but its definitely there lately.  I'm hoping this is a quick passing side effect.  These damn side effects are annoying but hopefully they get better soon.  I'm also on 600mg Tasigna.

Thanks Trey ...I guess I didn't search thoroughly enough to find all these helpful hints. I am going to try the cream recommended by the CML'er on your link with Vitamin E and Tea Tree. I have a Tea Tree cream that is absolutely soothing for this, but it only lasts for 5 minutes. Perhaps the combination of these and the potential diminishing of the burning sensation over time will be just what I need. Thanks for your time ! Janne

cometbro, I'm with you on that one. I am hoping also that these side effects pass. I certainly had some on Gleevec that passed, and some that didn't. After I try this cream recommended in earlier post by 5tigercubs, I will let you all know how it works for me. I have ordered it already. Thanks to all ! Janne
