this is a good article! On another subject, I have a question about the cost of Gleevec. My insurance currently pays for it but I will be 65 in a year. Am I going to have a problem getting Medicare to pay for this drug or Tasignia or Sprycell? Anyone out there on Medicare taking one of these? I dont know if I should panic now or later....

There are a number of people on the forum who can speak to Medicare. I suggest opening a new thread with your question to make sure people see it. They may not see it here. One thing to look forward to is that Gleevec is going to become generic in a couple of years so the cost for Gleevec will go down. I suspect it will also pull the price of the other drugs down a little as there will be price pressure, but probably not by much, they will still be out of reach for most people. I've heard estimates of Generic Gleevec being in the $300 - $400 range per month. Don't know if that will be the case or not and it is still not cheap especially for anyone on a fixed income, but it is certaily better than where it is today. The manaufacturer also offers patient assitance programs.
My motto is to always panic later
