I got back my PCR results today and now I am at 4-log reduction.

I have been on Gleevec (300mg.) for two years now. My CBC

numbers are cyclic (low one week and normal a month later).

My onc compares it to the grey collie who also has the same

cycles in blood counts.

I have informed my 88 year old neighbor, who told me she

had been "all tore up" all week. She sounded relieved so

I guess that expression means she had been upset. I plan to

celebrate with her and listen to Elvis albums. My plan is to

return to France next week for holiday and take home all the

Delta Blues albums that I have found while here in the South.

Now if anyone can just teach me how to play petal-steel guitar

before I leave, I would greatly appreciate it.

Best wishes to you all.

Simone

Very nice -- great news on low dosage Gleevec.  Enjoy your trip back to France.  "Y'all come back real soon now, hear?".

(By the way, the posting title that you "dropped another log" made me do a double-take since it also has metaphorical meaning with regard to bathroom activity.  I thought for a while that you had been picking up the Southern lingo quite nicely.  Did you tell the "all tore up" lady that you "dropped a log" today?  I would like to have seen her expression if you did.)

Trey, thank goodness you are from the South (Texas is the South

is it not?). Who would explain these expressions to me?  I must

add that I am glad I did not "holler" to her over the hedges about

my news. I have just been informed by my American friend what

it means. Each time someone here introduces me they always

tell the person I am from France, even before I can say hello.

It must be a subtle warning that anything may come from my

foreign mouth.

Congratulations, very insipiring to hear someone who continues to do well on Gleevec, especially at a lower dosage.  May I ask, have you found your side effects are lessened on 300mg?  I assume at one time you were on 400mg.  Curious if you noticed a difference in fatigue level from 400 to 300.

Thanks and enjoy your trip....

Yes, some of the side affects did abate, itching 24 hours a day

and low, low counts. However, the fatigue was not so bad while

I was on the 400 mg. The fatigue really did not appear so profoundly

until I was on G. (even with the 300 mg. dosage)  for about 6 months.

It is still the main issue with me, although it appears worse at times

than others.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

Simone

" Good news.  I dropped another log."

From the title I thought this thread was about something entirely different.

See, Simone, even Woofie came a runnin' to see -- what did I tell you?  Very good thing that you did not holler down the holler that you had "dropped another log".  Everyone would want to see the specimen.  That is something worth bragging about where you live.  They wouldn't flush it for weeks until all the cuzzins could come see it.  They won't believe it in France when you tell them.  How do you say "I dropped another log" in French?  Si ce n'est ..., une des plus belles, si ce n'est la plus belle sharts....

I may want to try it out on my neighbors.....they will come a runnin' to see the specimen.....

I too am guilty of thinking this was about something ENTIRELY different.  Perfect way to end my day though.  And congratulations Simone on the wonderful results as well! Goodnight everyone! Berk

No, Simone, that is to make sure the person they are introducing you to speaks loudly, slowly, and uses a lot of hand/arm gestures when speaking to you. This is followed whether the person who is being introduced is from a different country, different generation (usually older), or different abilities.

Don't take it personally, it's just another dumb American custom.  LOL

HB,

Are you still going to England this year?  Do you speak their language, or will you just use gestures?

Trey, very poetic way of speaking about the sharts in French.

I need to teach you some slang.

Dear Pat,

Are you going to let Trey talk to you like that?

Dear Simone,

What can I say ? I sure am happy you dropped another log. I have a mental block when it comes to understanding cml. I thought you could drop as many logs as you want to!

Glad you're enjoying you're vacation. We'll all have to put our thinking hats on and teach you some more American Slang.

Have a safe trip home if we don't hear from you later. You can chat with us from France that would be soooo cooool.

Au Revoir or something like that   Billie

Dear Simone,

After all you have been through, I am soooo very happy to hear your good news!  I have been thinking of you and hoping the very best.  I wish you good health and continuous reductions.  Just the other day, my 4yr old and I were trying to come up with as many words for "poo" as we could (and no, no profanity).  And it was I who came up with the synonym "log".  But I totally missed the "darker" meaning of your title until I read the replies.  Must be because I am nervous waiting for my 18 month.  Gotta loosen up.  Long life to you and enjoy the trip home.

Best wishes,

Tedsey

Merci to all for your good wishes for my "log reduction". That is

the correct term, right? I believe this post took on a life of it's own.

Tedsey, I think of you as well and hope your counts come

up and you can no longer worry about being transfused, by shots

or otherwise.

Au revoir.

Simone

Trey,

We're still going to England - in October, though. I've been searching for a GB English to American English translation dictionary since I'm very sure it will be very difficult to speak their language. I've been going back through PhilB's and Everon's posts to see if I can pick up so pointers and I think I have the correct pronunciation of 'whilst' down.

I hope I haven't put it off too late -  of course, I could always pretend to be Canadian!
