Even after taking Gleevec for 6 months, sign of gum bleeding sometimes occured and weight loss continue.. Is this sign of relapse ?

Hi,

Want to know the opinion, after taking Gleevec for 6 months, there are times gum bleeding and sign of weigh loss continue,,,, is this sign of Gleevec not working, eventhough achieve CMR.. ?

Any input appreciated...

Sorry Trey,

Wrong infor it should be CHR, presently was at CHR. My WBC is very low less than 3 now, and ANC about 2. Today there is sign gum bleeding... dont understand why the gum still bleed sometime,

Bleeding is more about the platelets.  You can bleed easier for two reasons related to platelets: 1) low quantity, 2) poor quality (too smooth to clot well enough).  For some people the CML causes poorer quality in the platelets.  But neither of the reasons are a reliable indicator of drug response or loss of drug response.
