How often are PCRu folks with no myelosuppression issues going for check-ups and bloodwork?

For those in PCRU less than a year, probably need to stick with PCRs every 3 - 4 months. For those PCRU continuously for more than a year, a 6 month cycle should be fine. That is what my Onc does.

When I hit PCRU in Dec. 2010 for the first time, my Onc said I'll see you in 6 mths. I don't like waiting 6 mths., I feel like I am walking a tightrope without knowing whether there is a net below me or not. Ack!

My Doc felt the need for an extended holiday, so I don't see him for six months - I reached CyCR at my last BMB. It spun me at first when I found out how long between visits, but I just have to trust that my body is working with the Glivec and the next time I see him I will be at PCRU (fingers crossed). In the meantime I spend my time trying to sort out the rash on my face and thinking about my next overseas holiday in 2012 - though I do remind myself to take each day as it comes and stop wishing my life away.

I have been to my Onc every 6 mos, for CBC and PCR, for the last 3 years. My CBC has shown no fluctuation at all so the doc feels anymore often would be unnecessary. I have been PCRU for 4 years.

What does PRC mean? CML newly diagnosed and on Sprycel for one week.

PCR means polymerase chain reaction. It's the test used to detect remaining CML cell load. http://en.m.wikipedi...Redirected=true
