Researchers have been showing that cannibinoids, the active elements in MJ, kill leukemic cells. The University of London have been doing research for a number of years.
http://www.bloodjour...so-checked=true
They got some headlines in medical and MJ circles for showing MJs effectiveness when combined with chemo. However what they show in experiments hasn't translated to large scale clinical trials and treatments patients can try. I've seen trials outside the US which show validity in treatments for various cancers.
I'm skeptical too. Major cancer centers are doing research limited by both federal law and since MJ is a natural product instead of a patentable medication Big Pharma hasn't been interested in funding the trials needed.

I've been smoking weed all my life and I got CML - not sure marijuana is all that effective if just smoked in killing leukemic cells from an anecdotal standpoint.

Liamsdad, just curious as to what dose of Tasigna and Sprycel you have been switched to?
Good luck on your upcoming PCR.

At the earliest opportunity, and whenever possible, lower your TKI dosage; TKIs are toxic drugs and the less we take longterm the better off we are going to be ... this is especially true for older adults.
In hindsight I should have started my dosage reduction two years earlier; it might have helped minimize some of the longterm cumulative toxic effects of TKIs that I am beset with.
longterm side-effects Peripheral Artery Disease - legs (it's a bitch); continuing shoulder problems, right elbow inflammation. GFR and creatinine vastly improved after stopping Gleevec.
Cumulative Gleevec dosage estimated at 830 grams
Taking Gleevec 400mg an hour after my largest meal of the day helped eliminate the nausea that Gleevec is notorious for.

I smoked very little when I was younger and it always put me in fun mood. After a gap of not smoking at all for 20 years. the regular MJ was so much more potent and gave me the worst trip.

For those who are interested in the history of Mary Jane :
http://www.narconon....na-history.html
It was introduced to the "new world" by the Spanish. Another reason I like the Spanish (my wife is from Barcelona).
But - to be truthful, my days with Mary Jane was last in college - those so many years ago. I am just so anti-drugs now - which is why I am trying like crazy to get off Sprcyel ! (as some of you know). My only vice is Scotch and wine. And an occasional cigar ... but only when I am forced to smoke one by friends. They twist my arm. They force me to reach in to the humidor, select their favorite cigar and pick it up, They force me to unwrap it and go through the ritual of cutting and lighting. I protest the entire time, but they insist. And I never want to disappoint my friends.

I've only taken the MMJ by tinctures and vape cartridges and candies The active elements are extracted through fairly expensive equipment using CO2 and not chemicals. Legalization has changed so much including how the dispensaries are clean and modern. I also started with a strain used by a major medical center. I started at 2 mg, waited 30 or 60 minutes as recommended before increasing the dose. I'm up to 30- 50 mg on days I take it.. The trials used almost entirely CBD which doesn't give any of the high. It was surprising . I've been increasing the ratio of THC with different products with precise doseages, there are so many. THC cannibinoids give the high and a small amount seems to help me more overall.
I smoked very little when I was younger and it always put me in fun mood. After a gap of not smoking at all for 20 years. the regular MJ was so much more potent and gave me the worst trip.
From what I read the THC is what would have the potential effect against the Leuk? Unfortunately if so, that's also what I fear would have me too paranoid to leave my house, work, talk, or leave buffets. Like you said the strains are obviously different. If I could find more evidence from a reputable, objective organization, that it does in fact destroy or help destroy leukemic cells, I'd be more inclined to search out some old low, "happy" grade stuff, but that seemed to have been bred away in favor of the couch potato, mute zombie varieties (based on my more reckless days anyway).

Hi, Buzz. I was on 400mg of Tasigna but it messed with all kinds of enzyme levels and seemed to affect my legs - couldn't move them so was switched to 50mg of Sprycel. That is causing a lot of dizziness and am waiting for the next PCR test later this month to see if it needs to be adjusted. Thanks for the good wishes.

I believe that just about anything when added to CML stem cells (LSC's) in a petri dish kills them. Ask Trey sometime what he thinks about the subject.
I'm a huge advocate of Science and the Scientific Method, until some research (likely at universities, Big Pharma will never fund it) shows evidence in lab mice that Marijuana is effective at treating CML (or any leukemia) than it is just Pseudoscience and someone is likely trying to make a buck.
Most of the interesting stuff is coming out of the universities, there are quite a few drugs currently on the market today that kill LSC's, but we can't get them because Big Pharma, I mean, the FDA, says we can't, because those drugs are for other conditions. No drug company (the only one's that can afford the millions for a trial) is going to file for a trial for an existing drug that already is in generic form and very cheap and would eliminate their multi-billion dollar a year industry. Not going to happen.
I've been compiling a list of drugs on the market which have been shown to kill LSC's in lab mice given Human CML and are safe in Humans. If you have the means to acquire these drugs (from another country, where it is legal to buy) than by all means, I would try, you have nothing to lose as the side effect profiles are already well documented and possibly a lot to gain by being cured.
